Punta Cana Excursions

Saona Island

Here's What You Get

Isla Saona is a 42 square kilometer Caribbean escape off the southern coast of the Dominican Republic's National Park of the East. Originally named "Adamanay" by the country's original inhabitants, the island was renamed by Christopher Columbus, during his second voyage to the Americas in 1494. The name, "Saona", commemorated his friend Michele da Cuneo, from Savona, Italy.

Isla Saona is, currently, the most popular tour offered from Punta Cana. The off shore key is the quintessential Caribbean beach with lazy palm trees, powdery white sand and calm aquamarine waters.

We'll race you out to the island in a speed boat that makes a stop in a waist high natural swimming pool (sand bar) with crystal clear waters. If you're lucky you'll see some starfish! At Saona Island, you'll have plenty of choices: wade in the azure waters, visit the open beach bar, take a nap on a beach hammock, play volleyball, indulge in a typical Dominican lunch of chicken, pork, rice, beans, salad and fruit, or stroll the coastline. Most likely, you'll do it all!

We'll return to the Dominican Republic mainland, unhurriedly, on a slow moving catamaran with Latin music, dancing and open bar!
