Samana is a peninsula in the Northeast Region of the Dominican Republic, boasting a mix of virgin beaches and lush mountain forests. A 30-minute flight from Punta Cana brings you to this seldom visited and magical corner of the island.
- Safari Truck: From the airport, you board our Open-Air Safari Truck and we wind our way into Samana's mountainous countryside to a typical ranch. Experience and taste the region's colorful local produce: coconut, coffee, cocoa, mango, pineapple, sweet potato, banana, papaya, passion fruit and mamajuana (supposedly a natural aphrodisiac).
Back on the truck, you'll pass by numerous plantations of produce you just savored at the ranch, before arriving at the entrance of one of the Dominican Republic's most sought-after waterfalls...Salto El Limon.
- Horseback Riding: Now it's time to saddle-up for a 30-minute horseback ride into the tropical forest. Our muddy trail follows the Limon River before it crashes down over a mountain ridge. Truly a sight to see, the Limon Waterfall is nestled in the depths of Samana's humid forests, featuring a cascade that free falls 170 feet into a green lagoon below.
On how many occasions will you wade in natural mountain waters in the middle of the Caribbean? Take your time.
To the Truck once again, we make our way to the shores of Samana Bay...
- Catamaran: Our dual-haul, spacious catamaran will hug the coastline, East, to our waterfront lunch spot. Enjoy an authentic Dominican lunch of fish, chicken, rice, beans, salad, fresh fruit and dessert in an amazing, rustic Caribbean setting. Believe us, this is better than your hotel's "Dominican Menu".
We now transverse the Samana Bay to Cayo Levantado...
Literally meaning 'raised cay' in English, this tiny atoll is encircled by powdery sands, lapping turquoise waters and mountains to the North and South. Enjoy your time on this lazy island and don't forget to try the area's famous Pina Colada with rum, ice and juice right in the hollow Pineapple. How do you drink your Pina Colada? In a cup?

You will be traveling by plane from PUJ (Punta Cana International Airport) to Samana. The young men and women who tend to the horses on the waterfall hike are from the local countryside and may ask for a gratuity. This is completely at your discretion and is always appreciated. We can ensure the proper treatment of the horses but it is difficult to compare them to horses in North America, for example. These are country horses mainly used for cargo. You may walk if you prefer not to horseback ride. The walk is about 25 minutes to the fall. Whether you horseback or walk there is a long and steep staircase down to the fall. Drinks are included during the transport around Samana. Please note that this itinerary is subject to change, specifically, lunch may be enjoyed at the ranch, on Samana's coast or at Cayo Levantado, depending on the day.
